WASPS Studios Visit at the Briggait

A visit WASPS studios at the Briggait, where we will explore the building, visit some of the artists studios and view the current exhibition by Glasgow-based artist Michelle Hannah.

The Briggait is a beautiful Grade A listed building in Glasgows medieval quarter, the Merchant City. Originally built in 1873, the Briggait was the city’s fish market for over 100 years. It has recently been transformed by WASPS Studios into a vibrant new home for over 80 visual artists and cultural organisations. Since its launch, The Briggait has scoped a series of awards and commendations including the Civic Trusts much coveted Special Award for Scotland.

For our evening event, members will have a tour of the building and an introduction to the organisation itself which supports up to 650 artists each year across Scotland. This is also a great opportunity to see inside two of the studio spaces, meet the artists who work here and talk to them about their work. Artist Michelle Hannah will also be exhibiting new work under the title Who Wants to Live Forever in the front exhibition spaces. Michelle’s work is concerned with the darker recesses of the human imagination and great themes of gothic art and science fiction and the occult.
